Next Youth Club 5th June

Youth Club meets Friday evenings  between 6:45 – 8-15pm in school in term time only.

It is for children in school years 6-8 and is much enjoy it by those who come along.

We do, however, need to look to recruit a couple more helpers.  The team work on a rota basis so don’t worry you won’t have to work every week. Please think about whether you are able to help and speak to Rev. Toby or one of the existing leaders to find out more.

New rota for reading lessons is about to be drawn up.  If you would like to read  and help with this important ministry please speak to one of the clergy or Andrew McMinn.

Thank you

Pentecost

This service is live in church, but it will be streamed so if you are unable to attend you can view it online. Now most of the words will also appear when you view the service on line so it will be easier to follow the service.

First Reading: Acts 2: 1 -21

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all togetherin one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, ]10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy.
19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
    and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’[c]

Second Reading: John 7: 37 – 3

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Monday to Wednesday this week are Rogation Days when we especially pray for God’s blessing on the land. Thursday then begins 10 days of “Thy Kingdom Come’ – we are each encouraged to pray for 5 people that they might respond in faith to the message of Jesus. Pray too for our next FAITHfest weekend September.

We would welcome anyone who would like to attend a PCC to see what is going on.

All Saints’ next PCC meeting is on Tuesday 14th May at 7:30pm in church.

Likewise if you have any issues or points you wish to have raised at a PCC meeting, please message Toby before hand so they can be added to the agenda, and we will try and address them at the next meeting.

(The PCC is responsible for looking after the finances and fabric of the church and working with the vicar to oversee and lead its work and mission.)

Thank you
