Church gardens
We are tidying up the gardens before winter with some outside help from Prospect.
On Monday 31st October between 10:00am – 12:00am
We would love some help – no need to be expert gardeners advise is on hand.
Tools will be made available.
We are sure you will agree, the  Church garden is beginning to look lovely again after COVID and lockdown; thanks to the hard work of  volunteers a few weeks back.

Since then, we have re-established contact with Prospect, who help us with funding and with keeping the garden tidy. We have some money donated by them to help replace dead and old shrubs and plants and we want to make sure we spend it before they think we don’t need it! We met with Gareth from Prospect and discussed how he might hep and advise us.

Gareth suggested that he and his team begin by helping us with the pruning  our roses, shrubs and bushes and getting rid of tree saplings on Monday 31st October between 10:00am – 12:00am. This is a job that needs doing before winter sets in. They will provide tools. However we do need  a team of helpers on that day too. So if you can spare some time to come along and help it would be greatly appreciated. You don’t need to be an expert gardener, there will be advice at hand.

We also hope to reestablish the garden club, it doesn’t meet many time a year; but it does help to keep the church grounds looking nice and cared for. If you are interested in coming along when you can please let Elaine Lockwood, Barbara Anderson or one of the Wardens know.  The day and times may vary to suit the group.
Thank you.

The Blackburn Diocese will be supporting this  work of the Mothers’ Union, a worldwide Christian charity, through their Literacy and Numeracy Project which aims to lift 2,500 people out of poverty over the next two years.

As one of the poorest countries on earth, with the majority of people living on less than £1.50 a day, by giving what you can, together we can make a significant difference to the lives of our people in Burundi who are in desperate need.

Harvest Festival

This service is live in church, but it will be streamed so if you are unable to attend you can view it online. Now most of the words will also appear when you view the service on line so it will be easier to follow the service.

However, below are the day’s readings as there will not appear on screen.

First  Reading: Deuteronomy 26: 1- 11

When you have entered the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it, take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land the Lord your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place the Lordyour God will choose as a dwelling for his Name and say to the priest in office at the time, “I declare today to the Lordyour God that I have come to the land the Lord swore to our ancestors to give us.” The priest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front of the altar of the Lordyour God. Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: “My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous. But the Egyptians mistreated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labor. Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression. So the Lord brought us out of Egyptwith a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; 10 and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, Lord, have given me.” Place the basket before the Lord your God and bow down before him. 11 Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.

Second Reading: Luke17: 11 – 19

ow on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a] met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
